I was driving home last night and my ABS and SERV light came on, i've looked this up and apparently damp/excessive heat can cause a fault. I turned it off and back on and it was still on so i though get as my garageis on holiday for a fortnight but i've driven this in to town and back and it went off half way back. Do you think i should ignor this or take it to the garge to get it looked at as i don't want to waste the money?

  1. You need to have it looked at: Whilst the lights are on, you obviously have no ABS (although your conventional braking system will be unaffected)

  2. It's a safety issue, therefor very important. You ignore it at your peril. Also it will fail the mot anyway so get it fixed sooner rather than later.

  3. ABS systet fault, this could be differences in the wheel sensors, e.g. air gaps, wire resistances etc.

The ABS system will be switched off, you can still drive the car as normal but there will be no ABS assistance.

Be prepared ABS systems have a tendancy to be expensive repairs, especialy if its a fualt with the modulator or if the wheel sensors are built into the hubs.
