Cincinnat Red's Scott Rolen misses fourth consecutive game – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds' general manager Walt Jocketty on Wednesday, July 4, dropped a hint that the team was considering reviewing the roster as third baseman Scott Rolen has been unable to appear in the regular games.
His inability to play the last four games due to lower back spasms seems to have finally shaken the team management. Rolen who has been instrumental in providing strength and force to the offence as well as defence will be a huge loss for the Reds if he fails to make it to the roster in the coming days.
Prior to the All-Star break, the Reds are doing their best to stay on top of the Division with a lot of competitors out there, including – but not limited to the teams like Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals.
As to when the team will shake the roster, the team general manager did not give a final date for it. "I'll know better probably the next day or so," Jocketty said. "We may end up doing something. He was feeling better today, so we'll see."
As for Rolen, he is optimistic enough when it comes to returning to the team sooner than later. He avoided speculating when he might possibly make his appearance after the recent bout of spasms that he is confronted with.
"Hopefully in San Diego," Rolen said.
All said, Rolen also expressed that despite the fact that he can walk around and move freely, he is uncertain about playing and does not want to over-extend his back spasms.
"I'm mobile and walking around," Rolen said. "No, I'm not comfortable. I'm not going to do any baseball stuff. I am getting around better, for sure, and improving. But I've not progressed to jumping jacks yet."
Cincinnati Reds will certainly want a quick recovery of Scott Rolen as he remains a supporting arm for the team. His consistency in the recent past has established evidence of his remarkable ability to guide the team to the path of victory whenever and wherever he can.
