Cincinnati Bearcats’ Zach Collaros to be back for week 11
Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Zack Collaros is expected to be back in the line-up when the club takes on the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday 13 November.
Collaros was knocked out of his club’s loss to the South Florida Bulls on 22 October with a bruised knee. The youngster was then held out of the Bearcats' next game against the Syracuse Orange on 30 October. Cincinnati played to a loss against the Orange
and dropped to 1-2 in conference play.
The Bearcats' season has been a forgettable one for head coach Butch Jones, who was hoping the team would be able to earn their third straight Big East title. However, the squad currently sits at the bottom of the conference with a 3-5 record and with only
four games remaining, it looks as though their streak will come to an end.
The season has been particularly disappointing considering Cincinnati was expected to be a force not only in the Big East but in the country this season. The club had a number of returning players, and with a slightly more difficult schedule, there was hope
that the Bearcats could earn a spot in the Bowl Championship Series standings.
Nevertheless, Jones will be keen to get his starting quarterback into the line-up, as back-up Chazz Anderson struggled against the Orange throwing for only 148 yards and one interception.
Conversely, the passing game has been the most productive part of the Bearcats' game in 2010. The squad currently ranks 26th in the nation, averaging 268 yards per game.
The Bearcats will be in action against the Mountaineers on Saturday 13 November and will see the Rutgers Scarlet Knights the following week, as they battle two squads just above them in the Big East standings.
So far this season, Collaros has tossed for 1,918 yards and 20 touchdowns.
