Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick faces risk of missing the start of the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season with a fractured bone in his leg.
Dre confirmed his injury through a tweet a couple of days ago as until recently no one from the team knew if the DB had any sort of injury scare that could make him to spend at least four to six weeks on the sidelines on the recovery and
rehab.
The player wrote on his Twitter account:
"I'm sorry about my injury and im going to try my best to get back and help the team to get to a Super Bowl and once again I'm sorry."
So far no one from Bengals' front office or coaching department has offered any comments on the lately emerged injury problem of the player and it appears set that the player will miss at least initial couple games of this season.
If so, it will be a major setback to the DB’s pro career prospects in the rookie year. He was picked in the first round off the 2012 NFL draft held in April.
Apparently, the information appeared on the surface so far is that the player got himself injured during the preparation for training camp, which is most likely taken as the accepted cause of the injury.
In case the player is injured during a non-football activity away from the team’s facility, he can lose compensation from the team for the time he spends on recovery and rehab.
Nevertheless, after confirmation of the injury, the player is definitely out of training camp, and as per claims in a section of media that his recovery will need six weeks maximum, he should be away until mid September, a couple of weeks
since start of the season.
As the player has assured that he will try utmost to stage a comeback earlier than that, if it happens it will be a great development to his future. The player reportedly does not require a surgery on his leg, which gives boost to hopes
of his early return.
Luckily, the Bengals had done some hiring during the offseason, which is expected to provide them the required depth at the DB and other defensive positions in absence of the rookie.
