Cincinnati Bengals confirm RB Bernard Scott injury torn ligament, out for season – NFL News
The Cincinnati Bengals have confirmed running back Bernard Scott’s injury is a torn ligament which according to the team has ended the current season for him.
Bernard hurt his knee in the game against the Miami Dolphins on past Sunday when he got his leg bent awkwardly during a play. He was helped on the sidelines and could not return to finish the game despite his all-out efforts.
After initial inspection by the team’s medical staff, the player was seen riding a stationary bike on the sidelines, apparently preparing to try if he can come out. He did not know then that worse news awaiting him which would not only cost him the game
but the entire season.
He was made to go through further scans and the results showed he had suffered a torn ligament, although the team did not elaborate if it was an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or medial collateral ligament (MCL).
Knowing about the nature of the injury may not be that important for the player now as in case of any of these two injuries he requires a season to work on recovery and rehab.
The RB could have a chance to come back by mid season if the team names his roster replacement under new rules of the National Football League. The Bengals may not be interested to seek that option given the injury suffered by Scott is of a serious nature
and the recovery process is often unpredictable.
So the current season run is surely over for the player which is a rather setback for him and even more for the team in the persistent struggle on the field. The Bengals lost their game versus the Dolphins which came after two consecutive wins.
The team has to show consistency and injuries like of Bernard do not bode well with their hopes and ambitions. While confirming ousting of the player for rest of the season, the Bengals have not confirmed if they are seeking to replace him with a possible
new signee. The team failed on the offensive line in the Dolphins game and will certainly not be interested to let the offence be affected by the lack of players’ strength.
