Cincinnati Bengals continue signing rookies, RB Daniel Herron 7th draft player to get deal -NFL News
The Cincinnati Bengals have continued signing contracts with rookie players who are inducted into the side off the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft, held from April 26 to 28.
So far, Bengals are reported to have locked as many as seven players, out of the total 10 they picked, looking to sign the remaining ones swiftly.
As of the latest, the management has handed a deal to running back, Daniel Herron, who played college league football for Ohio State.
Terms of his contract have not been disclosed by either his agent or any of Bengals officials, and both, the value of his deal and tenure, are unknown.
He becomes another RB to have signed with Bengals, as the team is looked already crowded with RBs.
Bengals former RB, Cedric Benson, has deserted the team to become a free agent and the management has signed a number of players at the position since his departure.
Herron was one of the leading performers of his college team. He was named the Buckeyes' most valuable player (MVP). Before becoming pro he had played the league as a captain of his team.
A number of commentators have analysed the player to be of rich talent and potential for success in the pro environment. Yet he is seen having some difficulties in picking up things and immersing into the pro environment initially.
The player might also have some difficulties to confirm his place on the position as some commentators foresee Bengals trying too many options at the spot within a short span.
Instead, they believe, the team should give more time and space to the rookies as Herron to adapt to the challenging conditions of the pro game before performing up to their potential or looking to build on their previous strength.
Bengals made it to the wildcard game during the last season, but lost the opportunity of moving beyond to the new arrivals, the Houston Texans.
At one point, the team was tied with their divisional rivals, the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, in the American Football Conference (AFC) North division, but lost in the race later in the regular season.
They aim to improve from the level this season.
