Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam Jones’ trial delayed till January 18 next year – NFL News
The trial of the Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones have been put on hold until end of the current regular season of the premier American football league, National Football League (NFL) in January next year (2012).
The trial will now be held on January 18, 2012. Previously, it was scheduled to be held on last Thursday, at Hamilton County Municipal Court in Cincinnati. The new schedule falls at the end of the current NFL season, which is already
into its week 11.
Jones had already been informed that he will not be facing jail term and will do extra 75 hours community work instead. He has been accused of misconduct in scuffle in a bar in Cincinnati.
The allegations had come at the time when he had already been serving an order from local judge to stay from the troubles.
The player has already served 200 hours of community work for his alleged involvement, and now will top up work of another 75 hours.
The district attorney in Las Vegas David Roger had said last week that he had discussed the matter with local prosecutors after having reviewed all the allegations against the player, adding he will not face jail.
“Even if there were a conviction in that case, I don’t think we could convince a judge here to revoke probation,” Roger said.
This enabled Jones to skip the possible jail term and do the community work instead.
The player had been alleged of his misconduct during a scuffle in a bar. He had been accused of inciting the melee in the strip club by throwing money there from a plastic bag.
He was eventually made to leave the club. Police said that he also had come into contact of an accused shooter in the bar just before he opened the fire. He was further accused of resisting his arrest.
The accused shooter of the incident Arvin Kenti has already been sent to jail, to serve a ten-year term behind the bars, after he entered into a plea to attempted murder.
Meanwhile, after his admission for the conspiracy to disorderly conduct, two felony coercion charges have been dropped against the 'Pacman' Jones.
