Cincinnati Bengals move training camp to Paul Brown Stadium first time in 45 years – NFL News
The Cincinnati Bengals return to the Paul Brown Stadium for the first time in their 45-year franchise history for training camp, to start on 27th of this month.
Bengals used to practise at Georgetown training facility and will provide the local supporters and spectators with an opportunity to watch their favourite players doing workout in almost a real game environment for the first time.
Good news for the local fans is that the training practices, which span over almost a month, are open to the general public and free to watch.
Some of the workout will take place at a facility adjacent to the main stadium and the team will install makeshift seating facility to accommodate spectators.
Again, the entry to the facility is free but visitors will have to buy complimentary tickets to show at the entrance.
The entry to the main stadium practices does not require any pass or ticket. Also, the team has advised the supporters that the capacity of the makeshift seating arrangement will be limited and tickets will be issued on first-come, first-serve
basis. The visitors, however, will have to pay $10 as parking fee.
The players and officials will be available for autographs for their supporters and fans for 15 minutes but they will refrain from interacting with the general public while entering and coming out of the practices.
It is pertinent to mention that Bengals struggled into later part of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season to attract spectators up to the capacity of the stadium. This issue appears set to resolve this year, given the
shift of training camp to the local town will help increase sense of belongingness and loyalties of the local fans.
Bengals executive vice-president, Katie Blackburn, said of the prospects:
“This change will provide our hometown fans a unique opportunity to see the 2012 team as it comes together. We hope it will also help attract fans from outside Greater Cincinnati to not only training camp, but to all the great summer activities
going on downtown.”
The camp will close on August 19, a few days before the start of the preseason.
