Cincinnati Bengals sign TE Richard Quinn, put centre Kyle Cook on IR list – NFL News
The Cincinnati Bengals have confirmed signing of free agent tight end Richard Quinn, a second-round selection by the Denver Broncos in the 2009 draft, who has also spent some time with the Washington Redskins.
Richard will replace tight end Bryce Davis who has been let go by the team after including him into the practice squad for a couple of days. Bryce spent time at training camp and some earlier workout activities but could not have a breakthrough to selection
on the main squad.
The Bengals who have been not happy over their defence situation are expected to get boost from arrival of Richard on the line. The team still can add a couple of players but this seems less likely given they are almost in the regular season phase now.
While it is confirmed that both parties have signed the contract, terms including tenure and value of the deal remain unknown. Independent reports claim it to be a year-long deal as maximum. Nevertheless, Richard has now become a part of the team and is
likely to be available for the season opener.
After having spent a couple of years with the Broncos, Quinn was released in August last year. He then joined the Washington Redskins but could manage only a game to play. He was then available on the free agency.
Meanwhile, the Bengals have also confirmed placing of centre Kyle Cook on the injured reserve (IR) list, which as per new rules of the National Football League (NFL) facilitates his return halfway through the season.
As per the NFL revised policy, a team can designate a player on the IR list for return in the mid of season while other players on the IR are to be out of the side for the entire season. The new rules were agreed between the NFL and NFL Players Association
(NFLPA) recently.
Cook injured his ankle in the last game of recently concluded preseason phase and since then is recovering from it. He was definitely out of the season opener on 9th but the placement on IR has ruled him out for another half a dozen games now.
