Cincinnati Bengals vs Oakland Raiders: OT Andrew Whitworth accuses opponents of rough plays – NFL News
Some of Cincinnati Bengals players who were given rough time by Oakland Raiders’ players have accused opponents of cowardice for opting to go after them in the game which the Bengals won with a convincing margin.
Offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, who was roughed up by the Raiders, was ejected along with Raiders linemen Lamarr Houston and Tommy Kelly. He admitted he expected a fine being slapped to him later in the week, but hoped the Raiders players would be taken
to the task sternly.
He also hoped veterans in the Raiders team will correct their younger teammates in some of unnecessary mistakes they have been committing in the name of game plays.
The DT said:
"I'd hope there would be guys on their team that would address that, but it is what it is. You've got guys that want to make names for themselves and can't, and then they get frustrated. It's their opportunity to do something they feel and be tough, but
that ain't tough. Face-to-face is tough. Most of those guys, they are what they are - they're cowards. And if they really wanted to have an issue with you, they'd address you. But they obviously don't."
He added:
“To be honest with you, if that situation happened again, I would still confront the guy."
The Bengals won the second consecutive game with a wider margin. They from appearance on the field looked to be a quite different side and gave a stiff challenge to the opposition. The Raiders have faced difficulty of handling the opponents and tried to
play some rough game, which resulted in ejecting of players from both sides.
As disclosed by the Bengals players, the National Football League (NFL) office is looking into evidence and might come up with a disciplinary action against these players some time later this week, although officially the office has not confirmed it.
The onlookers said it was a serious situation as the players tried to topple each other and as a result they were on top of one another. They believe the league office should look into the evidence irrespective of the question whether any player suffered
a serious blow or not.
