Cincinnati Masters 2010: Andy Roddick and Robin Soderling into 3rd round
The American professional tennis ace, Andy Roddick has recently fallen out of the World top ten rankings. But he has made his way into the third round of the ATP Cincinnati Masters tennis tournament 2010. After knocking down the twenty one year old Dutch tennis player, Thiemo de Bakker in a total of two sets on Wednesday. The final match score was 7-6(4), 6-4.
The twenty-seven year old right handed American has so far won the Cincinnati Masters tennis tournament on a total of two occasions in his career. As far as his yesterday’s match is concerned, the right handed Roddick along with Bakker fired a total of eight aces as well as thirty winners. However, the thirteen ranked Roddick earned the only break of serve in the third game during the second set of the match. The Austin resident, Andy Roddick, won almost eighty-nine percent of his points behind his first serve during his one hour and fourty-four minute clash on Wednesday.
The top ranked American tennis player from the men’s side, Andrew “Andy” Roddick while commenting on his victory after the match said, “I think I played more solid in today’s match as compared to my previous clash in this tournament. I just played my natural game today here in Montreal and I was constantly keeping a check on every point that Thiemo won during the match. I tried my level best to hit the ball in right areas. Moreover, I also put a lot of effort to commit just a few errors throughout the match. Today, I felt that I actually played quite well”.
The American tennis ace, as a result of this victory will face the fifth ranked Robin Soderling in his next round match of the 2010 ATP Cincinnati Masters tennis tournament. He will try his level best to at least make his way into the quarterfinal round of the competition on the very first occasion after a period of three years.
The twenty-six year old Swedish tennis ace, Robin Soderling, on the other hand secured his very first victory, in a total of four meetings, against Lleyton Hewitt in a total of three sets. The final match score was 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Soderling won his match against Hewitt in a time period of one hour and fifty-eight minutes. Soderling despite being down in the first set of the match didn’t give up and went on to win the second as well as the third set of the match that secured him victory at the Cincinnati Masters tennis tournament 2010. As a result of this victory, Robin has also managed to take revenge for last year’s Cincinnati defeat to Hewitt.
Soderling, with this win also registered, one of the best performances at the Championship in Cincinnati. He has previously reached the third round of the Cincinnati Masters tennis competition on a total of three occasions back in 2004, 2006 as well as in 2008.
He suffered an early exit at the Rogers Cup tennis tournament last week in Toronto where he was hammered down by the Argentinean, David Nalbandian, in the third round of the competition. However, he did manage to play some good tennis at this year’s first two hard surface ATP World Tour Masters 1000 competitions in Indian Wells, as well as in Miami, cruising to the semi finals rounds on both occasions.
Roddick lessened Soderling's lead to 2-1 after defeating the Swede in Indian Wells this season. He ended the Championship as a runner up against Ivan Ljubicic, which was followed by his fifth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 trophy, in Miami after defeating Berdych in the final battle.
