Cincinnati Masters tennis competition 2010 - John Isner and David Nalbandian advance to the second round
The American tennis ace, John Isner and the Argentinean tennis contender, David Nalbandian won their respective matches of the ATP Cincinnati Masters tennis competition on Tuesday. As a result of their victory, both the players have advanced to the second round of the competition at Cincinnati.
John Isner knocked down his Polish opponent Lukasz Kubot in a two setter clash on Stadium Court. The final match score was 6-2, 6-3. David Nalbandian on the other hand claimed a 7-5, 6-0 win over the fifteen seeded Croatian opponent Ivan Ljubicic just a few minutes after Isner’s victory on Grandstand.
John as well as David have both made their way into the finals of the North American summer hard surface season, with the American ending up as the runner up to his compatriot fellow Mardy Fish in the city of Atlanta, while the Argentinean tennis ace grabbing the ATP World Tour 500 trophy in Washington, D.C after falling down Baghdatis in the final battle.
The American tennis ace, John Isner while commenting on David Nalbandian’s current form said, "He is serving quite well at the moment and breaking his opponent on the court in a remarkable fashion. However, I don’t think that the Argentinean has faced as huge a serve as mine so it is definitely going to be very exciting for both of us when we will play against each other here at the Cincinnati Masters tennis competition. I am completely aware of the fact that I am one of the greatest servers of the game of tennis, whereas he is undoubtedly one of the best returners so this combination will be really interesting to watch for the tennis fans as well.”
He further added, “ The most important thing to do at the moment is to hold my serve and work harder and harder on improving it with every single match that I play and only in this way I will be able to give tough time to my opponents in the rest of the tournament in Cincinnati”.
The nineteenth-ranked American tennis ace, John Isner started off his opening match of the Cincinnati tennis tournament strongly and took a lead of 3-0 immediately during the first set of the match. During the second set, Isner broke Lukasz to steal the victory in a time period of just fifty-eight minutes.
The American John Isner while commenting on his victory after the match said, "I certainly played one of my best matches here in Cincinnati. I felt great on the court after a long time on Tuesday. I have not performed well over the last couple of weeks as I think that marathon match at the grass court Grand Slam tournament this year at the All England Club took a lot out of me and therefore I couldn’t play well in the Atlanta championship afterwards”.
As far as Nalbandian’s match is concerned, the Argentinean right from the start dominated the game after taking a break during the first set of the match. He advanced into the second set in just a time period of twenty one minutes. The current BNP Paribas Open winner Ljubicic only managed to grab a total of six points.
The 28-years old Nalbandian won a total of eleven matches in a row before the ultimate winner Andy Murray ended his winning streak last week in the quarterfinal round of the Rogers Cup tennis tournament 2010 in Toronto. He is taking part in his seventh championship of the year, sidelined for almost ninth months as a result of his hip surgery back in 2009 during the month of May, and skipping a total of two additional months this year due to his hamstring injury.
