Cincinnati Reds' Ryan Ludwick buoyed by his feat – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds’ left fielder Ryan Ludwick, on Monday, struck a positive note about the performance he is exhibiting. Lately, the player has risen to top of the list with his magnificent performance in the division.
The player so far has a hitting streak of seven-games and he does not seem stoppable. He will be a tough challenge for the Milwaukee Brewers to grapple in the opening game of the series on Monday.
Ludwick's stretch so far stands at .385 having a record of 10-for-26. His average might not have remained satisfactory enough at the start, but things have remarkably changed now for the left fielder.
With all the changes that are evident in the player, he has a better explanation for it. Once asked how he looks at it, Ludwick explained: "I think it's confidence, rhythm, timing -- those are the main three factors. I'm starting to tone down my batting practices and I've been hitting the ball the other way a lot better. I'm staying more squared to the plate. I'm seeing the ball earlier and I'm able to lay off pitches earlier. It's a lot of things.”
Ludwick’s performance will be a key factor in determining the end result of three-game series to be played against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.
This is largely because his last few weeks' performance is not only laudable but also intimidating for the rival teams. For example, he has had 11 extra bases, eight doubles and three homers of the last 15 hits.
This obviously did not come easy for him as he had been struggling hard prior to this streak, having difficulty in driving balls.
However, all the struggle was a phase that has now receded. For it too, Ludwick offers his view: "San Diego did a job on my mind, it really did," I feel like I'm just now starting to hit the ball like I was in 2007, '08, '09 and 2010 before I got traded [to Pittsburgh].”
It is worth recalling that before joining the Reds, Ludwick was a proud part of the Pittsburgh Pirates where he had a his ups and downs.
