Cincinnati Reds' pitching coach Bryan Price to stay with the team – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds' pitching coach Bryan Price has reportedly withdrawn his name from the consideration for the Miami Marlins’ manager job. With the decision, he will stay with his team now along with the manager Dusty Baker.
As for the Miami Marlins, reportedly, one of the former Marlins' catchers Mike Redmond and ex-Major League manager Larry Bowa are among the two candidates who have been interviewed for the managerial position.
Price was being named as one of the strongest candidates for the position. However, with the withdrawal of his name, it will be interesting to see who the Marlins eventually decide to hire as the manager.
In 2012 Major League Baseball season, Price was undeniably one of the finest pitching coaches. The fact that the Reds were among the two teams whose all five starters made regular starts throughout the season was in itself a commentary on the ability of the pitching coach to see perfect execution of performance.
He has been the team’s pitching coach since 2009. Interestingly, throughout these years, Price has been twice interviewed by Marlins for the managerial post; but in both cases nothing eventually materialised.
When he was interviewed on Friday, Price had made it public and did not say anything else. "That's all I want to say at this time," Price said in a text message as the report appeared on different websites.
Bryan Price has a lot to offer in terms of the professionalism and experience he has demonstrated all this while. One of the authoritative and illustrious names of baseball, his leading the Reds’ bullpen held a great record.
When it came to the relievers’ team ERA, the Reds remained atop. Rotation performed equally well as the likes of Johnny Cueto made their presence felt there. As for the closer, Aroldis Chapman came forward as the big name.
While the Reds were eventually unable to go beyond the National League Division Series as they were ousted by the San Francisco Giants, throughout the regular season their rotation and bullpen remained two of the strongest components.
The fact that Cueto had 19 wins to his credit, and Chapman went on to have 38 saves spoke volume about the Reds pitching coach’s ability to bring about a palpable change and maintain that.
With Price now part of the Reds, it will be interesting to see how the Reds' rotation and bullpen perform in the upcoming season.
