Cincinnati Reds’ Bronson Arroyo upbeat with 2-1 win over the Cleveland Indians
The Cincinnati Reds’ Bronson Arroyo had another outstanding outing on Monday, April 02, to help the team beat the Cleveland Indians by 2-1. As the 2012 season is a few days away, Arroyo’s spell manifested confidence and efficiency, pronouncing clearly to
the rivals how menacingly prepared they are to get on the rivals.
After the spell, the starter himself was brimming with energy and confidence, striking a positive note about his predictably strong appearances in the new season.
"I was going to dial it back a little bit, but as I was throwing my bullpen, I felt really smooth and nice and easy," Arroyo said after he scattered seven hits and struck out four. "So I cranked it up a little bit more than I thought I would. It still felt
comfortable."
Arroyo went for 6 1/3 innings to allow only a run with 4 strikeouts to his credit, enabling the team to be virtually invulnerable as far as the defence is concerned. His performance on Monday also brought about compliments from the team manager Dusty Baker
as well.
"Bronson was the best he's been all spring," Baker said. "We had good execution. We got the runner over and got him in. You have to win games like that when you're not hitting. We need to do a better job of that this year."
It is pertinent to mention here that following the last two outings that Arroyo had, he said had felt a little soreness. However, Monday’s game against the Indians showed things were going smooth, and flowed very well for the pitcher.
With the Cactus League completed, Arroyo will have his first start of the 2012 season on Sunday, April 08, where he will face the hitters of Miami Marlins on the batting plate at Great American Ballpark.
Arroyo’s appearance in the Cactus League had an ERA of 4.97. He won a game and lost two in the total of 6 starts that he had had. It will, therefore, be interesting to see how this tall pitcher goes about in his first game against the Marlins on Sunday.
