Cincinnati Reds Drew Stubbs feels strong after his stint in the DL – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds’ centre fielder Drew Stubbs on Monday, June 25, commented that he felt comfortable during the rehab assignment. Stubbs remained in disabled list for almost 20 days as he had been unable to play since June 5 due to a strained left oblique muscle.
Prior to being activated, the player had his appearance in games with Class A Dayton. The centre fielder who is famously known for his speed had a reasonable performance. In 1-for-10, he had one RBI coupled with a walk and two strike-outs.
While the Reds might have closely seen how the player performed, what is known is that the results would not have constituted a big concern for the team.
The player himself, on the other hand, seemed satisfied with how it all went. After the rehab assignment, the thing which cannot go unnoticed or disregarded was the fact that he felt better, and did not feel like missing any beat during his stint in the disabled list.
"More than anything else, I just tried to use it as a time to get back out on the field, see some live pitching and try to test how I'd feel in a game situation, rather than just BP or something," Stubbs said. "The main thing I took from it is I felt pretty good for the most part. I didn't feel like I really missed a beat, timing-wise and being comfortable on the field."
While there are several things to weigh when a player is engaged in Major League Baseball, Stubbs knows that remaining completely healthy and ready is the top priority for him and the team.
"Being 100 percent at any point of the season is kind of few and far between," Stubbs said. "There's usually always something going on.”
All things said, Stubbs seems ready to evince his mettle as the team faces the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. The Reds are to play a three-game series against the Brewers.
No time would be better for Stubbs to make a start as this one with the Reds trying their hard to go beyond the Brewers.
