Cincinnati Reds Nick Masset’s rehab assignment continues – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds reliever Nick Masset said on Wednesday, August 1, that he is feeling great as the rehab assignment continues. Nick Masset has not been able to pitch in the Majors since the start of the season due to the shoulder injury that he had sustained.
His absence was a shocker for the Reds for obvious reasons as he was being considered an important part of the Reds' bullpen. But the Reds somehow managed to fill that spot, having had the likes of Sean Marshall and Sam LeCure there.
All said, Masset is now going rehab assignments. He will now move his rehab to Class A Dayton on Thursday. There he shall pitch an inning. Masset is satisfied with how things are going at the moment.
"Everything feels great," Masset said. "After I turned the corner, my arm has been feeling really good overall, loose, strong and all of my pitches have been working well. I'm really excited with where I'm at now."
It is pertinent to remember that Masset has recently had appeared for the rookie-level Arizona League Reds whereby he pitched two scoreless innings coupled with five strike-outs.
It would be amazing news for the Reds if Masset somehow manages his way back into the Majors before the end of the season. The Reds still have more than 50 games to play. With the kind of performance the Reds have put so far, Masset’s presence will simply add to the club’s strength.
Masset is grappling with the ups and downs that he had to face lately due to the injury. But what makes him confident is the fact that he is back now.
"It's been a long road and it's been tough," Masset said. "There have been a lot of ups and downs. I'm finding out a lot about myself and a lot about my arm. I'm just glad to be back with the team."
The ongoing rehab assignment will determine whether or not he is completely fit – and in full form, to stage a comeback, and start serving the team when the longest stretch of games is around the corner.
