Cincinnati Reds’ Ryan Ludwick awaits physical – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds’ outfielder Ryan Ludwick has said that he is in good shape and that he hopes he will pass the physical scheduled for next week. The outfielder had only recently agreed to a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds.
Having previously remained attached with a host of teams, the new contract with the Reds will be a welcome sign for himself considering the fact that he is getting older. Interestingly, since 2010, he has moved from the St. Louis Cardinals to the San Diego
Padres and from there to Pittsburgh Pirates.
This will be the fourth team that the outfielder will be playing with. However, for the deal to take some concrete shape, the physical next week will be of the utmost importance, something that the player knows and hopes will be cleared.
"I am in really good shape and I'm hoping I pass. There's really no reason I wouldn't," said Ludwick.
The player emphasises the fact that he has worked hard for being where he stands today. The dream that he now has is to get into the postseason and quite possibly the World Series if he and his team can this season. The last time he made to the World Series
was in 2009, representing the Cardinals.
"Any time you've been counted down and out like I have for a year and a half, it's tough on you mentally," Ludwick said. "I've been busting my butt to get back to where I was. I'll try to open some eyes, be a good teammate and help the club win. I think
having another World Series in Cincinnati would be unbelievable. I'd like to get back to the playoffs myself. It's been since 2009 for me."
Having an average of .237, the player has appeared in 790 games throughout his career with 2641 at-bats and .787 OPS. The last year, Ludwick made an appearance in 139 games with a .237 average, having had 490 at-bats to score 75 RBIs, hitting 13 homers throughout
the season.
It will be his ability to pass the physical and proceed from there onwards that will be interesting to see once he joins the Cincinnati Reds.
