Cincinnati Reds’ Ryan Ludwick satisfied with his performance after a slow start – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds' left-fielder Ryan Ludwick on Saturday, July 14, admitted to have made a slower start this year but said he is as good now as he was in the St. Louis Cardinals. The Reds' LF was referring to the recent surge in his batting average after a seemingly very slow start earlier this year.
Ludwick initially had an average of .201 in the 45 games that he played, having had only 29 hits, 27 RBIs and eight home-runs. But things have considerably changed now as he is feeling quite comfortable with the bat now.
That is what Ludwick himself referred to while speaking of the renews force and energy in his hitting.
"I got off to a slow start, and I think I didn't have my swing for a year and a half being over in San Diego," said Ludwick, who had in the past had .228 average when he represented the Pittsburgh Pirates in two seasons. "I've told people this before: I feel as good as I felt in St. Louis."
His recent performance, as can be seen, is much different now. He now has a .328 average in his last 18 games, having had 21 hits, eight RBIs and four home-runs to his credit.
That is a great sign for the player who has tough competitors like Jay Bruce, Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips in the lineup. Coming at number six, Ryan Ludwick is a new sensation for the Reds now as he is giving a great advantage to the team.
"I think I'm hitting the ball great," Ludwick said. "I think every day I've been put on the field I've been pretty productive of late, and I think I'll continue to be productive."
With 10-year of experience and the majestic credentials that Ludwick has representing a number of teams in his career, Ludwick has a marvellous opportunity now to help the team go beyond the post-season games this year.
When every player of the Reds seems in a good form, Ludwick’s performance will be a great addition, helping the team attain more glories this season.
