Cincinnati Reds ‘anxious’ to get going – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds’ CEO Bob Castellini stated on Friday, January 27, that the team is anxious to get going with the moves made this year. As Spring Training approaches, the Cincinnati Reds have amassed a distinct pool of talent to descend on the ballpark..
"With all of the moves Walt has made this winter, we're very anxious to get going," Reds’ CEO Bob Castellini said. "I think there is a real upbeat feeling throughout the whole staff, organization and throughout Reds country.”
From Mat Latos to Edinson Volquez and from Ryan Madson to Ryan Ludwick, the Reds have become stronger since the trades were made. The person who has remained a key figure in executing it all is team general manager Walt Jocketty.
One of the biggest moves he recently made was that of Wilson Valdez. Coming from the Philadelphia Phillies, the infielder Valdez will be another key addition to the consolidated Reds. This obviously makes Dusty Baker, the team manager very happy.
"I'm very happy," Reds’ manager Dusty Baker said during a western caravan stop at the Hamilton campus of Miami University. "These are the most moves, combined, in an offseason since I've been here. We're trying to get better and trying to have an even better
opportunity to win."
Dusty Baker maintains that every team wishes for quality players. Even after the acquisition of so many players, the team may still be unsure if they will produce the kind of result that are expected.
Falling in the National League Central, the Cincinnati Reds have the likes of St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers to compete against, not to mention the Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros. Add to it the transformed Chicago Cubs which will be fierce
rivals during the upcoming 2012 regular season.
However, while the Cardinals remain the World Series Champions and the Milwaukee Brewers which qualified for the postseason, the Reds seem ready to take them head on.
Therefore, exciting games await every baseball fan once the new season kicks off with the Reds ever stronger and confident. The club will be looking to put in a good performance during the Spring Training sessions to get a better outlook on how they stand
against the other top tier teams in their division.
