Cincinnati Reds beat Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 – MLB Recap
Cincinnati Reds defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, September 27 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Reds’ played beautifully and earned a great win against the Brewers. Their pitchers and hitters rattled the Brewers with great force and won with style.
"It's not like Navarro hit it hard, but exactly to the good point," center fielder Carlos Gomez said.
On the other hand, the Brewers played under pressure during the entire game and could not match the Reds overall brilliance.
Their pitchers pitched way-ward and did not show any fighting spirit which eventually cost them an important game.
Starter Wily Peralta pitched 5.1 innings and received two hits on his 2.48 ERA. Though he retired six potential Reds’ batters but overall he could not save the game for his team.
"It was a little tight, It started in the second inning a little bit and got worse every time. Until then I got ahead of the hitters, threw strikes and kept the ball down. I'm happy the way I threw today," Rookie pitcher Peralta said about his and the team's performance in detail.
Closer John Axford allowed two runs and three hits along with one homer on his 0.2 innings spell. His pitching alone certainly was the reason of the Brewers’ defeat. He could not control on his fast pitching as his ERA rose to 4.88.
"Obviously, we'll have to win every game and hope for some help on the other side," Axford said.
On the other hand, Reds’ pitchers proved wonderful in the end as they pitched with total control and won the game.
"Runs are not our worry, Our worry is figuring out who we'll play in the playoffs," Frazier said
Mat Latos started the game for the Reds and proved one of the winning factors for his team. He received one run and three hits along with a homer on his consistent 3.52 ERA. His pitching alone was enough for the Reds to go as victorious in the end.
