Cincinnati Reds defeat Cleveland Indians 6-5 – MLB Spring Training

Cincinnati Reds defeated Cleveland Indians 6-5 at the Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, Arizona in a thrilling Cactus League contest of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session. the Reds displayed some high quality baseball skills in a competitive
spring game that was played on Friday, March 30.
Todd Frazier and Juan Francisco played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash. Both Frazier and Francisco hit home runs in five-run eighth inning from the reliever Dan Wheeler and the Reds came back from behind to steal a sensational victory on
Friday.
"They've had a lot of at-bats," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "The final spots are the toughest to make if you have a good team. If you don't have a good team, you don't have as many options."
"I have put things together whether I go to Cincinnati or Louisville," Frazier said. "They haven't told me anything yet."
Cleveland pitcher Jeanmar Gomez did not have the best of times on the mound as he had to leave with a mildly strained hip after tossing 3 innings. Gomez has given some decent results this spring and he will be competing with Kevin Slowey for the fifth starting
spot. Slowey allowed seven earned runs in five innings in a minor league earlier this month.
"Gomez was doing very well until that mild hip sprain," Indians manager Manny Acta said. "We didn't want to take any chances with him. He had a little trouble pushing off and looked uncomfortable."
The Reds will be very pleased to improve their spring win-loss record to 13-16. After making a slow start to their 2012 Spring Training campaign, it seems the Reds are finally ready for the upcoming regular season. It will be interesting to see if the Reds
can manufacture similar performances throughout the season to give themselves a chance to make it to the playoffs.
The Indians, on the other hand, haven’t anything to cheer about for a long time. With just six wins and 20 losses this spring, the Indians will have to work extremely hard to change the course of their destiny.
