Cincinnati Reds defeated by the Cleveland Indians 2-5 in the first game of their two-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, May 29 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Although the Reds started well and took early lead in the very first inning but soon the Indians regained their grip on the game and started a terrific run.
“We had a bad week, That's part of the season. I feel every bit as good about our club right now that I did 10 days ago -- maybe better because I've seen the fight they have in them, First of all, you have to have stuff to do it, but he competes so well,”
Indians manager Terry Francona said of Masterson's ability to work out of jams.
The Indians strong batting line-up stretched three-run lead in the bottom sixth and kept the Reds under pressure. Short stop Asdrubal Cabrera scored two runs on two hits. He played terrifically on his four at bats and maintained his slugging percentage at

Designated hitter Jason Giambi also played a key role in his team’s win. He scored one run on two hits along with three RBIs.
“There's no greater feeling in the world to be able to contribute and help the ballclub out, It's exciting. It's what brings me back. Sometimes I wish I was still 25 or 26 years old, but unfortunately I'm not,” Giambi said.
Third baseman Mark Reynolds scored one run on one hit. He also ran for an RBI on his four at bats. He played confidently and maintained his slugging percentage of .514.
Along with batters, the Indians pitchers also played well and helped their team win the first game of their series. Justin Masterson pitched six solid innings and allowed only one run on four hits. He struck out seven on 3.07 ERA and played a key role in
his team’s win.
Not only starting pitcher, the Indians relief pitcher Vinnie Pestano also pitched quite intelligently. He pitched the very last and important inning of the game and finished his spell with great composure. He received only one run on 5.54 ERA.
