Cincinnati Reds defeated by San Francisco Giants 3-8 in Game 4 of NLDS – MLB Recap
Cincinnati Reds lost to the San Francisco Giants 3-8 in Game 4 of their five-match National League Division Series encounter on Wednesday, October 10 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Reds’ had a very good chance to win the series when they entered the Giants’ home field but they just lost the control at very crucial stage of game which eventually proved disastrous for them.
“It's probably hard for them to believe that we were up 2-0 out there, So they reversed on us what we did to them out there, we have a big game, the rubber match, tomorrow. If we win tomorrow, it doesn't matter how many games you were up. They're a quality team, we knew it was going to be a fight when we got here," said Reds' manager Dusty Baker on his team’s performance which could not live up the expectations of their fans who were thinking that their team was far better than the Giants.
They could not fight back and lost bitterly in the end. Reds’ pitchers and batters played poorly and allowed many loop-holes to the Giants.
Giants’ on the other hand, knew their strengths as they capitalised with full intelligence which helped them oust the Reds in style.
Their pitchers and batters stood tall against the Reds’ roster and showed them the true offensive strategy.
Reds started with Mike Leake who received five runs and six hits. He received two homers and struck-out only one batter. He pitched 4.1 innings but despite his short spell, he could not stop the Giants' hammering.
Along with Leake, the Reds' closer Jose Arredondo pitched 0.1 innings and received three runs and three hits along with one homer.
"I would have liked to do a little bit better, but unfortunately I didn't, They were putting good swings, but I think mainly it was me missing my spots and them taking advantage of it," Leake said.
Reds’ batters, who had played wonderfully in the previous game, could not show any extraordinary performances in this particular game. Their batting line-up produced total three runs which were not enough for the Reds to defeat the Giants.
