Cincinnati Reds edge past San Francisco Giants 3-2 – MLB news
Cincinnati Reds edge past the San Francisco Giants 3-2 in the third and last game of their three-match regular series encounter on July 03 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
The Reds showed great temperament throughout the game and won with great style. They played wonderfully and won with great ease.
“I've been saying that he's one of the best hitters in the game, and I'm sticking with that. He makes adjustments. That's what he did his last two at-bats,” said Frazier, whose bobblehead was one of the game's attractions.
Reds’ batters remained confident and hammered the Giants’ upfront pitchers. Centre fielder Shin-Soo Choo hammer two hits on six at bats. He ran for one RBI and maintained his slugging percentage at .456.
“The guy he got the hit off of is tough against left-handers, He's been hitting the ball well lately with nothing to show for it. We were down to our last man, We cleared the bench trying to win that game,” Baker said
Third baseman Todd Frazier scored one run on one hit. He played well on his four at bats while he remained confident on his slugging percentage of .406.
“We had a good effort from our bullpen, We couldn't get a hit with men in scoring position. We have too many guys scuffling,” manager Bruce Bochy said.
Left fielder Chris Heisey also did well on the plate on his three at bats while he remained consistent on his .349 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Reds pitchers also played wonderfully and helped their team win an important last game of the series.
They pitched in right areas and played with great temperament. Starting pitcher Tony Cingrani pitched 5.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He allowed two earned runs along with one homer while he managed to maintain his ERA at 3.40.
On the other hand, the Giants pitchers did not play well and lost the game with bitter humiliation. Barry Zito pitched four innings and allowed one run on seven hits while he also allowed one earned run striking out three on 4.44 ERA.
