Cincinnati Reds hammer Chicago Cubs 3-1 – MLB Recap
Cincinnati Reds hammered the Chicago Cubs 3-1 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 18 at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Homer Bailey did well on the mound and showed great resilience on his outing. He pitched 7.1 innings for the Cincinnati Reds and received only one run and four hits. He struck-out four while his ERA remained consistent at 3.82 which proved one of the winning factors for the Reds as well.
"Once we scored those three runs, I really put a lot of effort into putting up some zeroes. Really wish I could have finished that eighth, LaHair just went down there and got it. Nothing you can really do about that,” Bailey said with confidence and told the media regarding his performance.
Dusty Baker also seemed happy on his team’s great performance as he talked to the media in detail and said, "We had just enough offense to win, That was a big double by Hanigan, Just a big victory for us, back to 30 over and one step closer.”
Along with pitchers, the Reds' batters also played well and contributed in their team’s win.

"I had bases loaded, let it come to you in that situation. Just trying to put the ball in the outfield and fortunately it got over their heads, It worked out," Hanigan said on his team’s performance and explained in detail.
Justin Germano pitched five innings and received three runs and three hits. He struck-out only three while his ERA rose to 6.17 which eventually proved disastrous for the Cubs.
