Cincinnati Reds hammer San Francisco Giants 9-3 – MLB news
Cincinnati Reds hammered the San Francisco Giants 9-3 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on July 23 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
The Reds played terrifically throughout the game and won with great style. They did not allow too many loop holes and eventually rattled the Giants with big force.
“We've got some hot bats, Ride it out as long as you can. You want to go out there and put up as many runs as you can, especially early, and take a little pressure off the starting pitcher. That's what we were able to do the last two nights,” Mesoraco said after the game and told the media about his team’s performance.
Especially their batters played with big heart and hammered the entire Giants’ pitching lineup. They hit hard and scored in consistent intervals.
“I go to Arizona tomorrow and I am starting Sunday,” Cingrani said after his 118-pitch outing in which he also singled in a run for his first career RBI at any level of pro ball.
Reds’ talented first baseman Joey Votto showed his valour by scoring one run on one hit. He smashed hard on his five at bats and ran for one RBI. Votto played a key role in his team’s win as he remained consistent on his .503 slugging percentage.
“I still have a lot of work to do coming back,” Surkamp said. “I feel like I'm close. I feel a little herky-jerky throwing pitches.”
Third baseman Todd Frazier also played well on the plate and scored one run on two hits. He hit hard on his five at bats while he also ran for two RBIs on his .404 slugging percentage.
Shortstop Zack Cozart scored three runs on four hits. He played well on his four at bats as he ran for two RBIs as well on his .380 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Reds’ pitchers also played wonderfully and played a key role in their team’s great win against the San Francisco Giants.
Starting pitcher Tony Cingrani pitched 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits. He allowed two earned runs and struck out 3.18 ERA.
