Cincinnati Reds impressed by Jason Isringhausen throwing session – MLB News
It looks like the Cincinnati Reds are carefully watching the performance of right hander Jason Isringhausen.
The Reds are genuinely interested in Isringhausen as he is a tremendous player with immense talent. During the throwing session, he managed to throw over 30 pitches which definitely impressed the Reds’ training instructor and management. The main concern
for the Reds is the player’s health and fitness levels. This is the case with all Major League pitchers, as the immense strain on the arms and shoulders can usually keep most pitchers out of the game due to injuries.
As Spring Training is about start, the Reds will get an ideal opportunity to observe the pitcher during the bullpen throwing sessions. Isringhausen is looking to make a come-back in MLB after having Tommy John surgery and rehabilitating in Triple-A.
However, during the 2008 season, Jason had an ERA of 3.61 and a Win-Loss record of 45-49 with 749 strike-outs. Unfortunately, he suffered from an injury in 2009 and had to undergo Tommy John surgery to repair his elbow.
While commenting on Isringhausen during the training session, training instructor Price said, "He threw the ball fine, well enough to feel optimistic that with a Spring Training to build his arm strength, he could get back to being productive again. That
is if he can stay healthy, which is a top concern for anybody is coming off an arm injury."
In 2010 Jason pitched a decent bullpen session for the Reds which managed to please the general manager and coach of Cincinnati. Thus, he agreed to a Minor League contract with the Reds. However, with his recent improvements in his pitching, he is looking
to once again impress the Reds with a tremendous performance and find his way onto the team in the final rotation.
The Reds will be looking at Isringhausen for a possible spot in the line-up if they feel that he has managed to gain enough strength in his arm since having Tommy John surgery. Jason will be looking to put in a good pitching performance during the bullpen
sessions for a chance to get a shot at playing in Spring Training.
Cincinnati understands the importance of Spring Training as it gives them an opportunity to finalise their line-up and pitching rotation. Also, the team gets an opportunity to build some confidence as some of the younger players get some much needed game
time against some of the top teams in the League.
It will be exciting to see if Isringhausen can fully impress the Reds and get a slot in the pitching rotation. He will have to come up with something special if he wants to make a come-back in the Major Leagues.
