Cincinnati Reds lose to Houston Astros 3-5 – MLB Recap
Cincinnati Reds lost to Houston Astros 3-5 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, September 7 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
"That was worth the whole time I've been here, They come in the locker room, they're smiling, they give him the pie in the face. It was a good feeling for us. That's a good team over there. I felt like Rocky versus Apollo Creed today," Astros' interim manager Tony DeFrancesco said on his team’s performance.
Reds' pitchers were hammered with great force and lost the game.
Homer Bailey started the game for the Reds as he pitched 6.2 innings and literally lost the game.
He received two runs and five hits along with a homer. Though he retired nine Astros' batters, his blistering 4.03 ERA did not help his team bounce back in the game.
Closer Aroldis Chapman pitched one inning and received three runs and four hits along with a homer. He also played poorly and lost the game for the Reds with his 1.61 ERA.
On the other hand, Astros' pitchers played beautifully and earned a great victory for their team.
Lucas Harrell played aggressive and proved too good for the Reds. He pitched six innings and received seven hits and three runs on his 3.83 ERA. He struck-out five and did well in his six innings spell.
Along with pitchers, the Astros' batters also played well and showed their true class.
Third baseman Matt Dominguez scored one run and two hits along with three quick RBIs. He played aggressively and maintained his consistent .625 slugging percentage.
"There's nothing else you can really look for, He got a fastball up in the zone. I took a good swing at the first one and fouled it off. I happened to get the barrel on the second one, A couple of days ago, it was hard to hold a bat," Dominguez said.
Centre fielder Justin Maxwell also did well on the plate and added one run and two RBIs on .455 slugging percentage.
