Cincinnati Reds’ making strides with the strong bullpen – MLB News
The Cincinnati Reds' reliever Sam LeCure on Sunday, July 15, stated that he hopes the team’s starters keep up the good work. He was referring to the good performance that the club’s starters have had this season.
Reds are currently moving up in the rankings in the National League with their 3.63 staff ERA, something that has bestowed invaluable wins for the team. Their starters have had three complete games in the last 11-game road trip.
Not only that, the 10 quality starts that the Reds have made all the more reassuring, helping the club to retain the first spot in the National League Central. All this, it is necessary to mention, is being backed by an equally strong bullpen.
The Reds have won no less than 18 relief victories, showing their dominance like the starters. That is what makes the Reds’ Sam LeCure more confident with each passing day. His aim is to execute whenever the team needs that.
“Hopefully, our starters keep going six, seven, eight innings, but we need to be ready too to come in and execute in those situations," said Reds' reliever Sam LeCure. "That's something we all want to do, to go out there and keep the other team at bay and give our offense a chance to come back and score a couple runs the next inning."
Cincinnati now have 2.71 bullpen ERA this season. It does not stop there at all. They have successfully contained the opponents to .215 batting average against the bullpen.
The team, therefore, hopes that the relievers keep performing well. Of utmost importance is Bill Bray’s fitness largely because he remained out of the season for two months. The Reds currently rely on five starters, throughout their 87 games so far,  who have led the team to their top position in the league.
Bray said, "We understand we're going to be needed down the stretch. We've really got to be on top of our game. We really look forward to taking the ball, though."
If the Reds’ manage to have this striking performance in both rotation and bullpen, coupled with all support from offence, they are all set to make it to the post-season.
