Cincinnati Reds outclass San Francisco Giants 3-0 – MLB News
Cincinnati Reds outclassed the San Francisco Giants 3-0 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on July 02 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
Reds’ played wonderfully and hammer hard the Giants with great force. Their entire roster never allowed the 2012 World Series Champions to take any advantage and won with quite ease.
"It's something I've already done, so I knew what to expect," Bailey said of his easy-as-could-be step into rare territory.
Especially their hitters showed great temperament on the plate and hit hard the entire Giants pitching rotation. Talented centre fielder Shin-Soo Choo started the Reds batting lineup on a high note with two smashing hits on his
four at bats. He scored one run and maintained his slugging percentage at .458.
"It was a pretty easy no-hitter, We didn't hit too many balls hard. There weren't any tough plays. We only hit a couple balls decent. He was really overmatching us all night," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said.
First baseman Joey Votto also played well on the plate and scored one run on one hit. He also ran for an RBI on his three at bats while he maintained his slugging percentage at .513.
"Obviously being from Texas and what a legend he is, To do it once is extra special. To do it twice -- I don't really have the words for it right now," said Bailey, who wears No. 34 in tribute to his boyhood hero.
Second baseman Brandon Phillips scored one run on one hit while he also ran for two RBIs on his three hits. He hit hard against the top Giants pitching and managed to maintain his .433 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Reds pitchers also played wonderfully and helped their team win an important game of the series.
Starting pitcher Homer Bailey pitched nine innings and remained hitless. He struck out nine Giants’ top hitters while he remained consistent on his persistent 3.57 ERA.
On the other hand, the Giants pitchers did not perform well and lost the game with bitter humiliation. Starting pitcher Tim Lincecum pitched 5.1 innings and allowed three runs and six hits on his blistering high 4.66.
