Cincinnati Reds shatter Washington Nationals 6-3 – MLB Update
The Cincinnati Reds shattered the Washington Nationals 6-3 in the third game of their three-match regular series on Sunday, April 07 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati Ohio.
Reds entire roster did a wonderful job and won in style.  They played much better from their previous game in which the Nationals defeated them with 7-6.
Starter Johnny Cueto was exceptional on the mound for the Reds as he pitched six solid innings and received seven hits and allowed three runs. He gave three earned runs and struck out six Nationals batters on his consistent 2.77 ERA.
Not only Cueto, but the entire Reds pitching lineup played wonderfully and won the game for their team. The relief pitchers and the closers also did their job and showed the Nationals their true class.
On the other hand, the Nationals entire pitching lineup played poorly and lost the game in the end. Starter Stephen Strasburg pitched over five innings’ spell and ultimately proved a losing factor for the Nationals.
He allowed six important runs on nine hits while his ERA went up-to at 4.38. He also allowed six earned runs while he was only able to strike out five Reds’ hitters.
"I think I learned a lot out there, You want to be in that situation and go deep in the ballgame. Something was going on when I was in the stretch. They seemed to take better swings, I have to look the video and see what I'm doing out there," Strasburg said
in detail as the game ended with 6-3 final score.
Later Washington manager Davey Johnson said for Strasburg, "He (Strasburg) is our horse, especially with the extra inning game yesterday, we used lot of guys. We needed six out of him. He was throwing free and easy, plus he's a pretty good hitter. Stras
threw the ball all right but didn't hit his spots when he needed to."
Washington Nationals relief pitcher Ryan Mattheus also did not play well and lost the game for his team. He pitched 1.2 innings and was hit two times on his 2.45 ERA.
