Cincinnati Reds surpass Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 – MLB Recap
The Cincinnati Reds surpassed the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 6 at Great American Ball Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Three-match series is now levelled with each team winning a game while the final and decisive match will be played on Thursday.
Coming into this particular game, both teams approached Great American Ball Park with full confidence. The Reds were defeated in the very first game as this time they looked more aggressive and showed some spirited performance. During the game, the Reds’
entire roster played as one unit and never allowed their opponents to take control of the game.
Left fielder Ryan Ludwick played well for the Reds in crucial stages of the game as he drove three important runs and proved his place in the roster.
"When he's on the mound, you feel like you've got a good shot to win, I've been on other clubs with pitchers like that. I don't want to put any extra pressure on him, but that's what he's supposed to do. That was a nice team win -- an important team win.
That team is right behind us.” Ludwick said after the game.
Starter Johnny Cueto also played well for the Reds as he allowed only three runs and six hits.
Later manager Hurdle said for Cueto’s game which provided the Reds a great win, "This young man's about as complete a package as there is in the league right now, He's got four weapons for pitches, he controls the running game as good as any right-handed
pitcher in the league.”
Leading in the very first innings, the Reds took their one run’s lead into five as they made four quick runs in the bottom fourth.
The Pittsburgh, on the other hand, started their pursuit little late. They made their first run in the eighth and begun an impressive run where they also added three more runs in the same inning.
However, the Reds offence seemed more resolute as they stopped the Pirates run and eventually won the game in the ninth.
