Cincinnati Reds thrash Atlanta Braves 6-3 – MLB Recap
The Cincinnati Reds humiliated the Atlanta Braves with 4-0 series win on Thursday, May 24 beating them 6-3 in fourth straight game of the their four-match regular series encounter at Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Catcher Devin Mesoraco hit a grand slam in sixth inning and pushed the Braves towards ultimate bitter humiliation where they left with no chance to return.
"That's kind of why I paused at the plate at the start, I wasn't sure it was going to stay fair, but it stayed true. It didn't tail. That's a pretty good sign for me as a hitter." Mesoraco said, whose grand slam handed the provided the Reds another win against the Braves.
Later catcher David Ross said of the Reds, "They're definitely rolling right now, They've got a lot of confidence. Their pitching staff is better than I think people give them credit for. And we're a little banged up right now, not 100 percent."
The Braves with this loss now pushed behind at the second place by the earlier second place Washington Nationals with .565 along with 26-20 win loss record.
"They come in bunches," manager Dusty Baker said. "Guys are finding their strokes and confidence, big-time."
Starter Homer Bailey played well for the Reds. He remained his calm for six innings on the mound receiving only four hits and two runs. He also struck out six Braves batters and proved a winning factor for the Reds.
On the other hand, the Braves starter Randall Delgado could hold the Reds offence who thrashed him heavily as they stole four runs and three earned from him.
From start of the game, the Reds were quite confident as they will win the series against the team who has never showed any resistance since the start of the series on Monday, May 21.
While when they started their play, the Braves again played under pressure and lost bitterly in the end. Though they scored two runs in the fifth inning, but still could not match the much tougher batting offence of the Reds and eventually lost the game.
