Cincinnati Reds trounce Atlanta Braves 8-4 – MLB news
Cincinnati Reds defeated the Atlanta Braves 8-4 in the fourth game of their four-match regular series encounter on July 14 at Turner Field in Georgia.
The Reds played with huge heart and hammered the Braves with great power. They played as one unit and never allowed too many loop holes during the entire game.
“We've had a good first half, Obviously, we're not in first place and that's where we want to be, but we've played well, especially with the injuries we've had. To still be right here in the hunt, we're in good shape right now,” Bruce said.
He added, “I really don't pay attention to that stuff, I started off July a little slow but slowly got heated up a little bit. It's a long month.”
Reds’ batters and pitchers played wonderfully and won the game with style. They played intelligently and won the important last game of the series.
“It makes for a better All-Star break, We had a chance to really take three out of four or maybe even sweep them but we'll take what we got,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said.
Reds’ talented centre fielder Shin-Soo Choo proved his valour and showed great resistance against the Braves entire pitching rotation.
He played well on plate and proved one of the winning factors in the Reds’ great win. He scored three runs on two hits on his three at bats. He also ran for an RBI on his tremendous .468 slugging percentage.
First baseman Joey Votto also did well on the plate and showed his sheer talent. He scored two runs and smashed a wonderful hit on his three at bats. He ran for one RBI as he also managed to maintain his slugging percentage at .506.
Second baseman Brandon Phillips also played well for the Reds. He scored one run on one hit. He ran for three RBIs on his five at bats while he maintained his slugging percentage at .413.
Along with batters, the Reds’ pitchers also played well and helped their team win against the Braves with healthy margin.
Starting pitcher Tony Cingrani pitched four innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He also allowed one earned run but his overall ERA remained under control at 3.23.
