http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romania-c2990 international Ciprian Marica has tied knots with Bundesliga side Schalke for the upcoming 2011/12 season. The striker was a part of VfB Stuttgart during the last campaign but managed only 13 league appearances.
He was targeted by a host of European outfits around, including the Premier League side, Blackburn Rovers. It seemed as if the Romanian was closing in on the move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues. The 25-year-old has penned down a two-year
deal with the club.
Marica expressed delight at the new challenge and hoped to earn himself a first team place in manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick’s line-up. He believed that there is a better opportunity of winning silverware at Veltins Arena as compared to the Mercedes-Benz Arena, where
he never managed to win any honour during his four-year stay at the club.
He, though, showed gratitude to the Reds officials for continuously entrusting him with the striking duties and wished his former club all the best for the new season. Marica also hoped for a better 2011/12 and urged his new teammates to repeat the performances
of the 2009/10 season, where the club were able to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Schalke got through to the semi-final stages where their journey was ended by the Premier League winners, Manchester United.
Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 manager Steve Kean, on the other hand, showed disappointment for not being able to sign the striker whom he reckoned could prove to be fruitful to the club’s chances during the upcoming season. However, he admitted that Rovers were never
in a position to spend so much money on the Romania international.
Schalke Manager, meanwhile, was delighted with the arrival of the former Shakhtar Donetsk player and hoped that the striker would soon settle in at the club. He guaranteed Marica a place in the starting XI and wished him success with his new challenge.
The Romanian joined the club in 2007 and managed 93 league appearances and netted 19 goals in return. He made his Romania debut in 2003 and has 49 caps under his belt so far, scoring 16 goals during the process.
