  1. Doggie, doggie, where's your bone?

    Musical Chairs.

Dress up game. you put a lot of different articles of clothing and accessories (sunglasses, hats, scarves, gloves, bows, etc.) in a bag. you play music and pass the bag around. when the music stops, the child holding the bag has to take out an item without looking and put in on. You continue until all the items are gone and then laugh about how silly everyone is dressed.

  2. hmm you can have story telling time like every time you go in the circle, a new kid can tell a little story that he/she made up.

Or another thing is like go around the circle and have every child tell his/her favorite animal, vacation spot, book, etc.

It's a way to have them get to know each other and share themselves with people

  3. "Mystery Box"

Large box with a small hand-sized hole cut into it.

Put things inside and let students feel inside the box.

Let the students take turns sitting next to you and guessing different items you put into the box.

Make a BIG DEAL each time to change the item to create suspense.

My bunch loves this and do it even after circle time is over.

    Its good for a

"Mystery" Themed lesson plan or just on a Monday to discover what the theme of the week will be.

  4. flannel board and magnet games are great.

I have a game of 10 different colored houses (easy to make) with a magnet on the back and a little mouse.  The kids take turns naming a color and everyone says "Little Mouse, Little Mouse, are you in the _______ house?"   Continue until everyone has had a turn.

Musical instruments are always a hit for a parade - take them outside for part of the parade since it's summer and march back inside.

  5. *The suitcase game is fun and they get better at it if you do it from time to time:  use a suitcase or pillow case and say we're going on a pretend trip and I am going to take this (whatever will fit in, maybe a book).  Close the bag and say 'Book'  The next child in the circle chooses a toy, adds it to the bag, and has to list what is in the bag now, 'book, truck'.  And so on until each child has a turn.  Everyone can help each child remember what is in the bag and usually everyone ends up laughing over it!  Then give the toys back one at a time so the children can put them away.

*Have one child go and hide their eyes, and quietly give another child a small toy to hide in their hands.  Everyone must hold their hands in the same way to try to keep the toy's hiding place a secret.  Then whoever had their eyes hidden must come back and guess who has the toy.  It's really hard for them to understand that you don't tell the guesser, let them guess!  But it usually is really funny!

*Roll a ball to each child one at a time and then do a little activity, like you say I will roll the ball to Mary.  Then Mary must say the name of the child she is rolling the ball to.  Good way to be sure everyone knows everyone's names.

*Play What's Missing.  Place an assortment of small toys on a tray and let the children see what's on the tray.  Hold up the toys and name them together one at a time.  Then cover the tray with a towel and take one item off, hiding it so the children don't see.  Take off the towel and let them figure out what's missing.  When they figure it out, put it back and cover the tray again so they can guess again.  Kids LOVE this one!

*To help them know what toys are in the room and where they belong, bring an assortment of toys to the circle and discuss what they are and where they belong, then choose one child at a time to tell us where this one goes and put it away.  They usually enjoy this activity and it helps them to organize things mentally to promote efficient clean-up.

  6. Have you tried the magic hat game? pass the hat around the circle and who ever puts it on tells you something about tham selves, what ever the topic is: my favourite...... i like my friend because......, what makes me happy......., i like to share.......,, my friends play with me.......,

Also you may like to try the games suggested on this site....
