  1. make them up. theyre re fun books about different cultures.

  2. I suggest you make flannel board activities for each culture you plan to introduce.  Choose a story from that culture, and cut out flannelboard characters to illustrate it.  Have the children participate by asking them each to place a different character on the board during the story.  Expand the lesson by celebrating cultural holidays and cooking foods from that culture.  Your local library should have plenty of story books and resources to help you.  Many also have a teacher card so that you can check materials out for longer periods without being fined.

  3. That's kind of an impossible task, teaching children under 3 how other children live! Children that age are completely egocentric, which means they dont yet understand that other people live differently than them. At that age they basically believe that everybody else is the same as them, and even has their same experiences, background, and memory! Their brain is not developed enough to grasp concepts like this, so it would be pointless to try.

That said, if you are having a circle time, just make sure it isnt longer than 5 minutes of full group time. Even this is stretching it. 2 year olds have an attention span of their age... that means 2 minutes. Sitting still for 5 minutes will be difficult for both of them, and it isnt appropriate to expect them to do so.

What exactly do you have to do this for?

  4. Keep it simple. For example, Monday - Wednesday will discuss the country India. On Monday, your subtopic will be Indians, language and food. You can show pictures of Indians wearing traditional costumes, or say some words like Hello and Good Morning in Hindu or bring in an Indian dish for the children to taste, curry would be a good idea. Ask them what they think of their costumes, and ask them to echo the Indian words with you and then ask them if they liked the Indian dish, why or why not.
