Circuit Plans for the US Grand Prix expected to take place in Austin submitted to the FIA
It was announced a couple of months ago that the FIA has passed the plan for the US Grand Prix that will be a part of the 2012 Formula 1 season. However, the official FIA report stated that the race would not take place at the Indianapolis or any other track
in the US. The 2012 US Grand Prix will in fact take place at a new track that will be built especially for Formula 1 and since Bernie Ecclestone and Herman Tilke came up with this idea, they announced that the track would be built in Austin, Texas.
After a lot of difficulties and conflicts, both these masterminds thought that the US Grand Prix should not be just a race, but in fact it should be a festival that would hold a number of events at the same time in order to entertain the audience to the
fullest.
The organizers of the new track are confident about what they are doing and what they have to do in the near future and in order to assure the FIA, they recently submitted a report regarding their progress and ideas for the US Grand Prix.
After some meetings with the FIA senate president Nick Craw, Herman Tilke’s officials Peter Wahl and Tavo Hellmund recently revealed that they are quite confident about what they have in store for the US Grand Prix.
“Our early submission is a true indicator of our ability to meet our slated opening in 2012. I have a very high degree of confidence that they'll bless it [the plan],” Tavo Hellmund said.
The organizers have been quite efficient as they were expected to submit this report early next year.
“Tilke has done this a million times so they know what is needed. It's all the civil engineering. It's a big book, a massive document. It's a blueprint for what the track is going to look like with all the cross-grading and everything,” Hellmund added.
The organizers are looking for positive feedback from the FIA and it is expected that they will give some positive results regarding the design in the near future.
