Circuit of Americas officially part of MotoGP calendar from 2013 season – MotoGP news
The new track ‘Circuit of the Americas’ is officially on the event calendar of MotoGP schedule, hosting from 2013.

The track at Austin, Texas is now confirmed to have a 10-year contract for MotoGP race in all three categories (MotoGP premier class, Moto3 and Moto2). Dorna Sports, S.L., 3Four Texas MGP, LLC and Full Throttle Productions have announced the 10-year
contract.
The contract adds to the already existing 10-year contract with the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, for the Austin track is in construction process. The Circuit of the Americas will be fourth in total to ever host a MotoGP race event. It will be
in count with Daytona International Speedway, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Currently, United States is hosting two rounds of the MotoGP schedule. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has continuously hosted the MotoGP event since 2005, the same year World Superbike was replaced with ending a decade in which no MotoGP event was held
in U.S.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway joined the premier class hosting prestige in 2008, after its first motorcycle race event was held since its first month of operation about a century back.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, chief of Dorna Sports, said, “We have had a wonderful and special relationship with Kevin (Schwantz) for twenty years and often talked about a mutual dream of increasing the popularity of MotoGP in the U.S. and raising our already
successful worldwide profile.”
Kevin Schwantz said he felt his dream had come true after the contract was signed, that FIM will run MotoGP World championship in his home state Texas.

“I respect so much what they (Dorna) and the FIM have done for MotoGP globally. It’s going to be great for the State, the product is fantastic and you never know, we may even have a reigning Texan in Ben Spies as World Champion for our first event…that
would be icing on the cake,” said Hellmund.
Officials of other tracks which already host MotoGP event were also pleased to count the Austin circuit for the premier class event.
