  1. I think it means that stars, planets etc do not revolve naturally but as a result of something.


  2. It could mean any number of things depending on the context.  Two possible meanings I can infer: 1) bodies in motion tend to travel in straight lines due to Newton's Laws of Motion (inertia); or 2) orbits are not generally circular -- they are more properly described as ellipses.

  3.   An orbiting body would orbit in a circle if it was was put ino a circuler orbit but this is not the case in general and small or large ellipses are the reality.
