Circumcision...Opinions?

I'm having a little boy and I'm in need of some opinions. Please state if you are male or female, (males- are you circumcised?) and what your opinion on circumcision is: whether you think boys should or should not be circumcised and why. This would be very helpful in my decision making. Thank you.

  1. Male - Uncircumsised.

I am against Infintile circumcision - There is no real proof it reduces the risks of anything.. If You dont want aids or any other STI's Wear a CONDOM!

It will cause your son PAIN!  both during and mostly After the procedure.. why would you inflict pain willingly?

You are Removing a very usfull part of the male anatomy against HIS will

The f******n Protects the glans! it produces a natural lubricant and maintains the sensitivity of the p***s!

It is his p***s.. let him decide when he is old enough to do so...

I have 5 nephews.. 3 UK uncut boys.. and 2 Cut US boys.. my two nephews in the states are now 13 and 9.. They did not know you could have a f******n untill they seen me in the shower..

Now that they know about it... they hate thier parents for mutilating them against thier will...

For your sake and that of your sons.. DONT DO IT!! it is a form of child sexual abuse no matter what any one says..

Would you get your Daughter Circumcised???

  2. I don't think boys should be circumcised because it's unnecessary and causes them pain. There's no medical reason for f******n removal when they are so young and before anything has gone wrong. It's not cleaner...in fact it's dirtier to have an exposed wound in a diaper compared to a normal intact p***s (the f******n is actually there to protect the glans and the urethra). Where I live in Australia fewer than 10% of boys are circumcised and that's the case in Europe too, most places around the world, it's just the USA where it's still done but even then only 50% of boys are circumcised nowadays. My boyfriend is uncircumcised and has never had a problem, the f******n gives him pleasure and is fun to play with. It doesn't smell and he's never considered having it removed. A guy should be able to make his own choice, and circumcising a baby takes that choice away (as well as some sexual sensation!)

  3. I'm a mom of two uncircumcised boys.  I'm having another boy in a couple months and he'll be left intact, too.  It doesn't make any sense to remove a healthy, normal part of the body.

Not all uncircumcised men hate having a f******n (like the first answerer apparently did) and many circumcised men feel mutilated and are generally pissed off about what was done to them.  You need to consider this.  It's not your body and you don't know what your son will want when he grows up.  If you circumcise him when he's born, he can never get his f******n back.  If you leave him intact, he'll have the choice to be circumcised any time he wants, IF he wants.

  4. Congratulations on your news!

Whether to circumcise a son is a question all parents face, but nowadays more and more are opting out of it.

Here are some facts I suggest you consider:

    - According to a Gov't study, only HALF of baby boys are being circumcised in the US nowadays (compared to 80% a few decades ago) and worldwide only 20% are.

    http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/series/sr_1...

    - Circumcision is now seen as medically unnecessary. The AAP does not recommend routine circumcision anymore. They say "it is not essential to the child's current wellbeing."

    http://aappolicy.aappublications.org/cgi...

    - The f******n is not just a useless flap of skin. It holds many protective, sensory and sexual functions, and since the invention of the shower, its real easy to keep clean.

    - An baby's uncircumcised p***s requires NO special attention. You don't need to clean under the f******n after every diaper change! He'll discover his f******n whenever he's ready (which won't be retractable until the age of 5-10) and then its a case of simply educating him about his own personal hygiene.

I think you should leave your son’s p***s intact — He’ll be a bit of perfection when he’s born so 'if it aint broke dont fix it'!

I'm glad my parents didn't circumcise me.

  5. I'm Male 35 in the US and not circumcised.  I have a six month old son that I didn't circumcise.

To me infant/child circumcision is wrong.  This is a choice that should only be made by the owner.

Stan is giving you some very one sided information about "benefits" as for STD's and AIDS, there is mixed results.  The AAP's statement in regards to circumcision and STD studies as confusing and conflicting.

Here are some links to studies done in the US that didn't show any protective effect from circumcision (Although there is more):

As for other things he listed:

    Penile Cancer:

    http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/conten...

The cervical cancer thing is BS.

    UTI's:

The evidence on this is shaky that it prevents UTI's, but if it does it would require over 100 boys to be circumcised to prevent 1 UTI.  I am guessing the circumcision would hurt worse than the UTI.

    Phimosis:

It is not common and can be treated with out circumcision.  Women can also get phimosis as the female prepuce is similar in function and purpose.  30% of women with sexual dysfunction have phimosis.

As of 2005 56% of new born boys were circumcised before leaving the hospital in the US.

    Poll on MSNBC about circumcision:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19296194/

Do you think newborn boys should be circumcised?

    43% Yes

    57% No

Leaving him whole is the only way to give your son the choice.  It can always be done later.

And Congratulations, being a parent is so much fun.

  6. Take it from someone who grew up uncut, do your kid a favor and have him circumcised. I'm not sure why people get so fanatical about keeping it but I hated having a f******n. It's gross, it stinks, it looks ridiculous and frankly it's just unhealthy. An uncircumcised p***s, no matter how much you clean it, has a faint odor because the head is always moist and at the end of the day it starts smelling like a urinal. It really is rather disgusting. Also, you're always cleaning of the smegma (i.e. d**k cheese) which is not the kind of thing that gives you confidence when you first go out with a girl. Eventually I got circumcised when I was 20 only wishing my parents had me done when I was born. It's cleaner, healthier, feels better, doesn't smell, and looks better. It simply just makes sense.

If me and my wife were to have a son I wouldn't think twice about getting him circumcised especially considering all the overwhelming proven medical benefits it provides. It totally eliminates Phimosis and thus also greatly reduces Balantis. It reduces the chances for penile cancer, prostate cancer, urinary tract infections, and cervical cancer for women. It has also shown in heterosexual s*x to reduce the contraction of the HIV virus (AIDS) up to 50% which enters easily through the inner lining of the f******n. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends circumcision for HIV prevention. Another study showed a 50% reduction in Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's - Syphilis, Herpes,...) among circumcised men. In general it completely eliminates smegma and unwanted odors created from trapped urine and s***n under the f******n.

In case you're wondering, there are no specific benefits to having a f******n although some men claim a greater sensitivity. However, studies have shown no difference in sensitivity nor sexual satisfaction between circumcised and uncircumcised men which corresponds to my personal experience. One study showed uncircumcised men actually have a higher rate of sexual dysfunction especially as they grow older.

Personally I would not want my kid to spend his teenage years having to deal with what I had to. Having had it removed, I found the f******n just a pointless piece of skin that only serves to breed bacteria. Having actually experienced both sides, I would circumcise him.

  7. I wish my parents hadn't chosen it for me, when I found out about it I read everything I could, I know

tons of information about and have read both pro and anti circumcision websites, I really wanted to

believe it was good, but the truth just isn't there, you see and hear all these claims but if you ask for

the actual study nobody has them or they are so old and used invalid techniques and would not even be

considered for publishing, I wanted to believe it was good but if you look at both sides, circumcising without an immediate medical need makes no sense at all. I later did f******n restoration restoring what was left (they do leave some f******n) but it's not all restorable, but what I was able to get back was great. but this came at a price, I can no longer see circumcision as cosmetic or as if it does not really matter, things that I thought were normal I only realized were problems after I restored and no longer had them, sexual enjoyment is way up. I can't imagine how much better the real thing is.

people have said in relation to sexual pleasure

    intact=10

    cut=3

    restored=7

and from my experience I agree with the cut/restored numbers

let your son have an entire p***s, he only has one life to live, only one chance to feel the full sexual pleasure, if you circumcise him he will never be able to experience it

    http://knol.google.com/k/george-hill/cir...

    www.nocirc.org

he can always decide later to get cut, but he can never truly get back what was lost, there is no reason to force it on him as the supposed advantages don't even exist till he is old enough to decide
