The Sampdoria chief has stated that his aim is to build a team that will never give up in the face of adversity, and has branded the season starter against AC Milan as a ‘big test’.
Ciro Ferrara has stated that he is looking forward to season’s first match against AC Milan at San Siro, and has stressed that he aims at fashioning a side with a diehard temperament.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 under-21 coach is the recently appointed manager at the newly promoted side, and the club is scheduled to play their first match of the season against the formidable Rossoneri.
Ferrara was adamant that the opening game against AC Milan is not a catastrophe for his team, but an opportunity for his boys to taste Serie A at the very beginning and test their strength.
The Doria manager went on to add that he has a decent team at his disposal, and stressed that he will make sure that they give the Milan outfit a tough challenge.
While talking to the press, the 45-year-old said:
“It is certainly a big test and we are going into an important stadium like San Siro against the side that came so close to the Scudetto. It is going to be difficult, but we certainly won’t make it easy for Milan either.”
Ferrara went on to stress upon the importance of fitness of his team, and stated that he aims to build a side with a lot of grit that would never give up no matter how grave the situation.
The Sampdoria coach stated his belief that such a diehard attitude will not only elevate them in the league, but also present a hearty spectacle for the fans that will come to love the team much more.
“The first thing I want to see from my team is toughness, a group that does not give in and to the very end battles away. I always had the feeling that fans appreciate this level of effort and that is what I expect from my lads – a warrior side.” He added.
The Blucerchiati will play AC Milan as they begin their season on the weekend of 25-26 August, 2012.
