The Italy Under-21 manager is impressed with his team’s performance against France; commends the players for putting their heart and soul into the game.
Italy U-21 head-coach, Ciro Ferrara, has expressed his delight over his team’s comeback in a 1-1 draw against the French under-21 team.
Alberto Paloschi’s 69th minute equaliser helped the Little Blues to come from behind to secure a draw. The coach is more than satisfied with the draw, though, he believes that his side deserved better.
While talking to the press, the former Juventus coach said:
“The display was excellent. As I said to the players in the changing room, we didn’t deserve to be a goal down.”
Ferrara believes that it was not easy for his team to play their game in away conditions, and has hailed the performance as splendid teamwork.
“These players have been working together for a year now and they are taking us towards some great results. It wasn’t easy to come to France and create so many chances. They caused us some problems, but by changing a few things
at the break we were able to get a result.”
A.C Milan striker, Stephan El Shaarawy, replaced Fabio Borini in the squad after Cesare Prandelli promoted the AS Roma striker to the senior team for the friendly against USA.
Ciro Ferrara believes that despite the absence of the skilful striker, he had lot of quality and depth in his squad.
The former Napoli defender was all full of praise for El Shaarawy, and commented:
“I have so many players who offer me different solutions and El Shaarawy is one of them.”
The 45-year-old added that it was not just the brilliant squad, but also the players’ hunger to win that was driving the team to perform well. The coach offered his gratitude to the players for giving their 100 percent in the game.
“Everyone did really well and I want to thank these boys for putting their soul into the game tonight.”
The former Juventus defender is confident that several of his U-21 stars will soon make a grade at the senior level.
