The Sampdoria chief believes that the match against the mighty Rossoneri is an interesting challenge, and has stated that he will look to impress in the first match of the competition.
Ciro Ferrara is not perturbed that the first fixture of his newly promoted side has been set against AC Milan, and has stated that he will relish the experience of playing at San Siro where he has many memories.
The 2012-13 fixture schedule was drawn on Thursday evening, and the Samp will be playing the former Champions in their first clash following promotion.
Ferrara insisted that he is not at all worried about facing a strong team in the outfit's first Serie A clash in years, and branded the match as a fascinating challenge.
The Sampdoria manager revealed that he is well acquainted with the venue at San Siro, having experienced so many games in the historic arena during his time as a player.
The Doria chief stated that he has a lot of memories attached to AC Milan’s home stadium, and insisted that it will be an interesting occurrence for him to go into the arena as a manager.
In an interview with the club's official website, the 45-year-old said:
“It will be a fascinating challenge, no doubt about that. I have faced countless battles on that field of play at San Siro. That ground brings back many memories, some good, some bad.”
Ferrara went on to stress that Sampdoria maybe a newly promoted side, but stressed that he will enter the field against AC Milan looking to launch an upset.

Ferrara was the former coach of Italy under-21 team, and replaced Beppe Iachini at the helm of the club following their promotion from Serie B.
