Cirrus Des Aigles to contest for the Prix Dollar at Longchamp keeping the future Stakes at Ascot in mind
Trainer Mme C Barande-Barbe has decided to use the Prix Dollar at Longchamp this afternoon as the stepping stone for Cirrus Des Aigles to further contest for the new Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on 15th October and then to build up the rhythm
for the coming season. The horse has performed consistently throughout and now is on test at Longchamp.
The five-year-old Cirrus Des Aigles is out of Even Top and Taille De Guepe. He has raced eight times this year with Franck Blondel and just once this season with Christophe Soumillon.
Four out of eight runs have been wins and he even qualifies for a hat-trick as the last three races that he ran in were all wins, one after the other.
"Not every time our plans and the jockey's plans were correct. He has a very good sense of rhythm and likes to use his stride", said Barande-Barbe”.
On 20th July he won at the Vichy against F Rohaut’s Agent Secret. At the beginning he settled third on rail, kept travelling easily, was ridden 2 ½ furlong out when all on the track switched to stands’ rail. Then he led two furlong out, running
on with a maintained pace till the end.
The next victory of the season was at the Deauville, a Group 3 race where Cirrus Des Aigles settled third and was about six lengths away from the leader, went closer to the leader by going well 2 ½ furlong out, moved very smoothly towards the final furlong
to share it with the leader 1 ½ furlong out and was soon leading after which he did not stop before reaching the end of the track.
"If the pace is very fast he can wait, but he doesn't like to wait and be slowed by the jockeys. If it's not fast he can go and make", was told by the trainer.
The second time he raced at Deauville he won again.
He raced wide, kept pressing the leader, was taken to the outside rail in back straight, overall leader halfway and by second furlong out it was clear that he was the leader which he later proved by breaking through the wire.
If he gets to win the Prix Dollar at Longchamp then it will be his straight fourth win this season, a record in itself!!
