Cirrus Des Aigles triumphs in the Dubai Sheema Classic Presented By Longines At Meydan
Cirrus Des Aigles downed the victory in the Dubai Sheema Classic Presented By Longines At Meydan yesterday on 31st March, 2012. His connections, owners, Jean-Claude-Alain Dupouy & Xavier Niel, and trainer, Mme C. Barande- Barbe, were pleased with
the prestigious victory that was added to his record.
Mounted by Olivier Peslier, the six-year-old gelding had to bring his best front forward to land this victory. Peslier had to be tactical with the horse to bring out the best in him.
He bagged a purse worth £1,935,483.87 as he defeated race favourite, St. Nicholas Abbey by a marginal difference of a neck, where as Jakkalberry finished third as he h**l 3 ½ lengths behind the runner-up.
Trained by Aidan O’Brien, St. Nicholas Abbey was saddled by jockey J.P O’Brien.
He maintained his composure throughout the race. He chased the leaders, 2 ½ furlongs to go, and made further progress in the final 1 ½ furlong.
O’Brien trained Treasure Beach finished fourth yesterday, as he missed a placed finish by ½ a length.
Aidan O'Brien was pleased with the performance of Treasure Beach and St. Nicholas Abbey as he stated to the press:
"I was delighted with them, they ran two great races for their first run of the season, great runs.”
Barande-Barbe reflected on Cirrus Des Aigles performance and told the press that "If a horse comes from behind it pushes him. It is a big emotion [for me]. I was very happy - with him he always comes better and better. It is just like a dream that never
stops. He really likes very, very big racecourses.”
Peslier stated to the press that   "The trainer said the horse was very tough and as long as you ask him, he's always very competitive," he further added “I'm very happy for the horse, very happy for the team and for the jockey who rode him before."
This magnificent victory shows the true potential of Cirrus Des Aigles, son of Even Top, out of mare Taille De Guepe. He landed a victory in the Qipco Champion Stakes (British Champions Middle Distance) at Ascot but 15th October, 2011 but the
controversial whip ban stole it of its glory. This time, he will gain all the attention and appreciation for his performance.
