Newcastle United striker Papiss Demba Cisse is determined to score ‘a proper goal’ after he got a lucky deflected winner in the 2-1 victory over West Brom last week.
The striker scored his first Premier League goal of the season in the dying minutes of the game against West Brom last week. However, it was initially a Sammy Ameobi shot that deflected off Cisse’s back and went into the goal past the helpless http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445.
The Senegalese centre forward has been the subject of taunts and jokes from his teammates all week during the club’s training sessions.
The player came on from the bench, and scored the winner in the final minutes of the game as Newcastle clinched the victory. Cisse’s teammates have been making fun of him, trying to score goals in training by hitting the striker’s back.
The player is determined to score a proper goal, and will be out to prove a point as Newcastle travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 tomorrow.
Toon boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew is not concerned about the nature of the goal, and was delighted after his side grabbed the win. The manager believes that Cisse is now even more focused and encouraged to score. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“The guys have been taking the mickey out of him all week. But I still think it is a great thing that the ball struck him and went in like that.”
“Tiote has been laughing at him all week, trying to hit him and deflect the ball into the goal. Everyone's been doing it. If anything, I think it probably deepens his resolve to get a proper goal. But I really don't care how they go in. They can do it again
in a game for all I care.”
The manager has had an uninterrupted period of training with his team following last month’s international break, and is happy that the players can focus on club football for the rest of the year.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Liverpool, Pardew praised Reds manager Brendan Rodgers and believes the former Swansea boss can lead Liverpool to success if given the time and the proper resources.
