The Senegalese International has been in red-hot form lately, scoring nine goals in his last eight matches. He netted the ball twice against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, to guide his side to the fifth place in the Premier League table.
His brace against the Welsh club won him the praise of his manager, who hailed his brilliant performance on Friday. Pardew believed that the striker has made a huge impact for the Magpies and described him as a team guy.
He told reporters, "He's been brilliant. He was our best player today. He was, of all our flair players he looked the one that was really on it. We're lucky to have him, he worked for the team today.”
Cisse was named the Player of the Match after the game. The 26 year old has been on a goal scoring spree lately, having also scored two goals against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at the Sports Direct Arena on Sunday.
"He's got fantastic pedigree though. This was a boy who scored goals in the Bundesliga, he's not a mystery.” He added.
The Senegalese footballer came to the Sports Direct Arena in January from the German side FC Freiburg, for an estimated cost of about 9 million pounds. So far, his eight appearances for the club has seen him score nine goals. He scored 22 league goals for
the Bundesliga side in the 2010/2011 season, which is the highest number for any African player in the German league.
Pardew pointed out that the Swansea playing style demanded that all of his players needed to chip in, and termed the win against the Welsh team a huge one, in the context of the season. However, the Englishman refused to be over excited at the prospects
of finishing in the top four this season.
"That was the away win we needed between now and the end, and our home games now could see us through to fifth, sixth place and that's what we're going to try to do"
The 50 year old, who took charge of the club in December 2010, admitted that his side had conceded a lot of possession against the Swans, but hailed their patient approach towards the game. He highlighted that the Welsh side have been particularly threatening
in their home games, and his side needed to play the waiting game.
He backed his side for their defensive ploy after getting the first goal, and went on to say that the Magpies scored their second by taking advantage of the Swans vulnerability in the back.
