Newcastle United striker Papiss Demba Cisse is targeting a goal spree after he bagged his first goal of the season in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the league cup.

Cisse took no time in settling in as he managed 13 goals in 14 appearances, making Ba’s absence forgotten. This goal tally included the stunner against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which was chosen as goal of the season by journalists and analysts alike.
The player has however not enjoyed the same form this time around, as he is still without a goal in the league. Cisse did end his dry spell as he came on in the second half against Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.
The striker had hardly spent 5 minutes on the pitch when he headed in a cross from Shane Ferguson and gave his team a chance of salvaging a result. He came close in the dying minutes through a brilliant overhead effort, but was denied by the crossbar.
Manager Alan Pardew was full of praise for the striker, and was glad to have seen him scored. After the game, Cisse rued the missed opportunity, but was glad to have ended his goal drought.
The player spoke about his hopes and targets for this season, and when asked if his confidence had returned, he said:
"Yes. I am very happy. For me it was very good to score. Two would have been very good but a goal didn't happen at that time."

The manager recently signed an 8-year contract extension with the club, and is delighted to have tied down his long term future with the Magpies. Pardew is targeting a Champions League spot this season, and knows that his side will have to work hard to get
